  1. 2024 – Present

    Practical AI workflows and automation

    Exploring how modern AI tools such as Claude can support real business workflows, reduce repetitive admin and improve operational efficiency for SMEs.

    Current areas of focus include:

    • AI-assisted software development
    • Workflow automation
    • Business knowledge systems
    • Internal tooling
    • Practical AI integration for smaller businesses

    Rather than treating AI as hype, the focus remains on applying it where it can genuinely simplify work and improve day-to-day operations.

  2. 2019 – Present

    Multi-site, real-time desktop applications

    Moved from closed-source Java platforms to open-source technologies, developing applications across the medical, retail and property sectors.

  3. 2010 – 2019

    Web, desktop and mobile platforms

    As web, desktop and mobile technologies increasingly merged, we adopted Servoy, a Java-based rapid application development platform. Our focus during this period was primarily the recruitment sector, where fast-moving real-time data was critical to operational success.

  4. 2006 – Onwards

    Cloud and mobile application development

    Early adopters of Amazon Cloud infrastructure, replacing our existing Apple Xserve hosting environment. Expanded into mobile application development, focusing on practical SME tools designed to support day-to-day business operations.

  5. 2004 – 2009

    Database-driven web solutions and SaaS

    Created Click4Safety, a SaaS-based safety platform used across more than 800 UK sites. Clients included Swiss Post, Mulberry, Swarovski and Unwins.

  6. 2001 – 2007

    Interactive media and CD-ROM development

    Produced numerous interactive CD-ROM titles for clients including Gillette, Duracell, NHBC, Reebok and Estée Lauder.

  7. 1997 – 2001

    Database and financial systems development

    Developed database and software solutions primarily within the financial sector, including the “Proper Job” fact-finding database for Scottish Amicable, later part of Prudential plc.
